Adda Corp. are a small company in Taiwan which focuses much of its heatsink production efforts on the mainstream or 'volume' markets - in other words, inexpensive and standardized cooling solutions. FrostyTech.com caught up with the company at its booth during Computex, and while ADDA didn't have many revolutionary heatsink designs on display, it did showcase an assortment of socket 775 heatsinks.
Adda have distinguished itself from many other socket 775 heatsinks by the partially protected fan. Also interesting are the clips used to hold the heatsink in place on the motherboard; instead of screws it uses the Intel-designed push-in connector that holds the heatsink directly to the PCB. It's hard to say what kind of forces this applies, but PCB warping is obviously a concern. The Pentium4 heatsink on the right is different because it uses a copper base, heatpipes and stacked aluminum fins. In the past, this type of heatsink has usually performed with mixed results. Some models FrostyTech has tested along similar appearances have worked well, while others have not been impressive.
