The rise above ambient temperature results always tell all, and the D6TBA shows us it has the stuff to deal with the small interface die only, and that it just melts under the strain from the large interface die. While 8th position in this set of reference coolers isn't exactly something to cheer about, it is looking a little better than it did initially.

And hey, if that fan does stop working you will at least hear a shrill whine before your Athlon XP burns itself, and the rest of the motherboard up with fire, inferno, and flames. ;-) Bottom line, the D6TBA is an OEM level cooler, and works okay. If you can find something better in you should aim for another heatsink with better performance and skip the D6TBA altogether.
