The final results are pretty disappointing considering the DTA-12 is a skive heatsink. The only possible explanation we can give for this less than ideal thermal performance has to do with the tips of the skive fins.

On other heatsinks we have reviewed before, each and every heatsink had received no final machining to the tips of the skive fins. This, the fins where shaped like a knife blade, coming to a dull rough edge. With the DTA-12, the tips of the skived aluminum fins have been machined flat - no doubt to prevent personal injury, or shorten stray fins from interfering with the fan.

Unfortunately this may be causing the air to loose momentum as it attempts to go in between the fins, and this may be the reason the DTA-12 has produced less than expected results.
