CC-DTA-12 Heatsink From All Angles
The Fan:
A standard 60mm fan tops of the DTA-12 and provides it with a low-power source of quiet cooling. The fan draws 0.20A and connects via a 3-pin fan header on the motherboard. The small fan shroud protects the fragile fins and keeps the fan just slightly above the tips.

Heatsink Top:
The fan attaches directly to the fan shroud because you can't really screw into skived fins without causing problems. Each fins is separated by a millimeter or so, and if they are all bunched together it won't help cooling performance one bit. Where the clip sits in the heatsink the base is 6mm thick.

Side A:
Those screws remind me of drywalling... The fan shroud is a simple piece of aluminum which has been cut from a large sheet. The clip uses a small flat head screw driver in order for it to be engaged. The tension the clip exerts is good, not too stiff, and not too lax.
Side B:
The skived fins have a nice and graceful curve to them that only hints at how they were formed. Each fin is about 0.3mm thick and separated by 1mm of space for good airflow. The fins are 24mm in height and the base is a substantial 10mm thick. The left side is undercut 2mm for socket cam arm clearance.
Heatsink Base:
You can just make out the reflection of the camera lens in the base. The base itself has been face milled, and that is why it is so shinny. It is perfectly flat and very smooth - ideal for mounting to a silicon processor core.
