Noise levels are really not much of an issue with 1U coolers as SCSI drives, case fans and whatnot produce a lot more noise. Still, if you would like to listen to this heatsink click on the headphones and sit back and relax...

The initial results see the Model 5R from Spire sitting relatively low in our list of reference coolers, but within in spec for good performance. Obviously, the Vantec cooler sees some rather undesirable temperature results on the 100W test.

The Model 5R from Spire is the best solution for larger heatspreader topped processors in this small list of reference coolers. Of the four 1U heatsinks we are using for comparison it displayed the best thermal results on the large interface die.

However when it came to the smaller interface die the Spire heatink dropped down to just good performance, close to that of the Dynatron. We found this interesting as we had expected the difference in results to be a bit larger than they ultimately proved to be. Not bad at all.
