Abstract: Everyone interested in performance cooling knows full well that copper is king. The CCK-6035D, the half-pint Vantec CCK-6027D is based on a full copper thin-fin design.

The rise above ambient results are important as they remove the minor differences in ambient test temperature and display the actual temperature increases experienced by the interface dies. In this set of test results the order doesn't differ in any way, but it was somewhat spooky to see just how high some of the temperatures go with the small interface die loaded to 100W.

Again, on this small die area the CCK-6027D proves itself quite capable and manages to keep things down to about 46 degrees. This may sound like a lot, but compare it to the competition and its easy to see where this heatsink currently stands.

So where does the CCk-6027D stand? If we look at the above results and consider the Fortis A92 to be equivalent to an OEM class cooler, and the TI-V77L equivalent to a performance class cooler the CCK-6027D falls into the latter category. The absolute barriers of the scale are still being defined as we go about testing all of the previous favorites on the newly upgraded thermal platform, but you really don't need a map to see where things are going.

Vantec have taken the thin fin design of their previous heatsink and managed to optimize and improve it. So in this case size isn't really the important factor, rather it's improved fin density!
