Abstract: Everyone interested in performance cooling knows full well that copper is king. The CCK-6035D, the half-pint Vantec CCK-6027D is based on a full copper thin-fin design.

Those damn Delta fans are noisy, but heck do they move a lot of air. With an ample supply of fresh air blowing down into the thin fins of the CCk-6027D it tends to make a little less noise than the CCK-6035D from memory. Well maybe not less noise but it doesn't sound as high pitch as I remember. In any case, the extra fins and still powerful fan combine well.

As always, you can listen to this heatsink by clicking on the headphones to the right of the waveform images. The Sample is about 10 seconds in length and is stored in MP3 format.

If you have been following FrostyTech's heatsink reviews you should immediately notice one very significant addition to our set of test results. Thanks to some down time upgrading and retooling test equipment we now offer 50W and 100W tests on both sizes of copper interface die. We've always been quite content with testing heatsinks on 50W and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. As you might expect the numbers scale fairly well from 50W to 100W on the same interface die for the most part.

In the case of the Vantec CCK-6027D let me first draw your attention to the CCK-6035D, the larger of the two almost identical Vantec coolers. I had expected this heatsink to outperform the current test heatsink simply because it is bigger (and I didn't notice the fin density changes right off the bat), but was surprised to see the numbers point in the other direction - at least insofar as the small interface die results are concerned. On the larger interface die the CCK-6035D manages to come in ahead by a few degrees.
