FrostyTech Synthetic Temperature Test Platform (50W heat load)
Mfg. Name Model No. Ambient Temp. (C) Large block (C) Small block (c) Thermal compound Thermal pad No. Fans Fan Noise Clip
1 Thermoengine V60-4210 25.0 43.9 47.6 AOS52029KY grey 1 low mod
2 Zalman CNPS3100 25.2 54.0 48.0 silver goo - 1 lg low med
3 Blizzard S370-L 27.0 52.8 48.4 silver goo - 1 low easy
4 GlobalWin WBK 38 25.0 43.9 49.4 AOS52029KY pink 1 high stiff
5 Thermaltake Volcano II 26.5 51.7 53.2 AOS52029KY yellow 1 low hard
6 Zalman CNPS2005 27.0 56.5 54.8 silver goo - 1 lg low med
7 Thermaltake Superorb 25.6 49.2 60.1 AOS 52029KY none 1 (2) low easy
8 Coolermaster DP5-6H11 26.6 49.9 61.0 AOS 52029KY pink 1 low stiff
9 Vantec GSW-6015 26.0 48.0 64.2 AOS 52029KY none 1 low easy
10 Coolermaster CH5-5K12 26.6 53.7 64.8 AOS 52029KY carbon 1 mod stiff

Of the heatsinks used in this comparison the Coolermaster comes in 8th, just after the SuperOrb. This is not to say it is a bad cooler by any means, but it does illustrate where it stands with high-performace heatsinks.

Interestingly enough the DP5-6H11 manages to out perform the Vantec GSW-6015, which comes equipped with a high-RPM fan as standard. Also note that this Coolermaster performed a few degrees cooler then the dual heatpipe equipped CH5-5K12, which we have to admit, just looks amazing, no matter how it performs.

Rise Above Ambient Temperature (C)
Mfg. Model with large block with small block
1 Thermoengine V60-4210 18.9 22.6
2 Blizzard S370-L 25.8 21.4
3 Zalman CNPS3100 29.5 22.8
4 GlobalWin WBK 38 18.9 24.4
5 Thermaltake Volcano II 25.2 26.7
6 Zalman CNPS2005 28.8 27.8
7 Coolermaster DP5-6H11 23.3 34.4
8 Thermaltake SuperOrb 23.6 34.5
9 Vantec GSW-6015 22.0 38.2
10 Coolermaster CH5-5K12 27.1 38.2

Looking a just the rise above ambient values we're pleasantly surprised to see the DP5-6H11 just inch it's way in front of the Thermaltake SuperOrb. In reality, the differences are so close that they would really have no effect however. A 34.4 rise above the ambient temperature is a good result for this heatsink, and the class it is competing with.

The Thermoengine, Blizzard, and Globalwin WBK-38 are really high performance heatsinks, so while it seems as though the Coolermaster DP5-6H11 has performed just horribly, its performance is really fairly good as it stands below the 40 degrees rise above ambient mark.

Conclusions:

All in all the Coolermaster DP5-6H11 is a good performing OEM class heatsink. It is not really comparable to the higher-performing heatsinks like the Thermoengine, and solid copper Blizzard, but neither is it geared towards the same types of systems or users.

This heatsink is good for your mid-level, never ever overclocked computer. From our experience with Coolermaster in the past, they are very stable performers for the average computer.

Would I put this cooler on a Ghz chip - no, but I would install it on any non-overclocked chip under 800Mhz without concern. So while this is a good performer at a fairly reasonable cost, it shouldn't be confused with a high performance heatsink. Instead it offers good performance, an inexpensive price point, and most important to some, very quiet operation.
