Abstract: The heatsink is constructed from a simple aluminum extrusion and is compatible with socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM3/FM1 AMD processors. Intel processors are not supported at all. Because it lacks any copper, weight is a modest 430 grams. The PWM compliant 95mm fan can be adjusted from 2000RPM to 600RPM as thermal needs change.

The 95mm PWM fan is
probably the most important aspect of the Arctic Cooling Alpine 64 Plus
heatsink, the 9-bladed impeller utilizes AC's Fluid Dynamic bearings. Default fan speed
is 2000RPM, the lowest rate is 600RPM. Power is supplied via a
standard 4-pin PWM motherboard connector. The extruded aluminum fins are
~30x90mm in size. Each fin is 0.8mm thick and spaced 1.5mm apart.

The 95mm fan exhausts air out through
a 75mm swath of continuous aluminum fins which are angled slightly away from the
center-line of the cooler and also arched at the top (hidden behind
the fan frame). The aluminum base plate is also arched,
ranging from 10mm thick at the center to 5mm at the edges. There is a
stepped overhang on either side of the Alpine 64 Plus for capacitor
clearance. The stainless steel clips are each held in place with a single
screw so we'd advise tightening it down tight when you install this
heatsink. |

The effective base area of the Alpine 64
Plus heatsink measures 75x65mm in size. The base has a linear sanded finish and comes
with a pre-applied patch of grey thermal compound. The aluminum is
generally flat, but not perfectly
so. |
