/ Pentium 4 / Celeron class heatsinks tested at 85W
Results based on readings from a 30x30mm copper
interface die with 150W and 85W heat loads applied on the
LGA775/1156 version of the Mk.II Test Platform. Temperature results
listed for each heatsink were calculated by determining the rise
over ambient temperatures at time of test. Information on

The heat
output from Intel processors varies, so Frostytech tests with two thermal values
that represent the upper limits of existing CPU families.
With a
150W heat load applied by the Intel LGA775/1156 version of FrostyTech's
synthetic thermal test platform first, the Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 heatsink
maintains a pretty average temperature result of 24.8°C over ambient
at full fan speed (48.5dBA noise).
After
reducing fan speed from 2000RPM to 1500RPM, CPU die temperatures increase
moderately to 28.7°C over ambient. Noise output decreases to 41.3
dBA.
The
Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 heatsink was next tested on the Frostytech Mrk.II
synthetic thermal test platform with an 85W heat load. Under these test
conditions the heatsink had no problem maintaining a CPU die temperature of
14.5°C at stock fan speed and 17.3°C with its 92mm PWM fan spinning
at 1500RPM.
Standing
just 130mm tall the Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 is a viable thermal solution
to consider if your computer case that cannot accommodate taller or
bulkier heatsinks. On the whole the Freezer 13 offers average thermal
performance with generally little noise, ranging from moderate to quiet to be
specific.
Clearly though, there are very many other, larger
heatsinks which offer both lower temperature results and quieter operation.
Where sub-130mm tall heatsinks are explicitly considered, the Arctic Cooling Freezer
13 is about 10°C behind the front running Noctua NH-C14 and Scythe Rasetsu heatsinks. In the relm of similiarly
sized sub 130mm tall heatsinks, the Freezer 13 is 6.4°C behind the Zerotherm Core 92 and BTF92 OC edition heatsinks.
