*heatsinks are ranked according to the 125w thermal test results column (rise over ambient temp.). low temperatures with low noise levels are considered best. for reference heatsinks with variable-speed fans, only the high speed (12v) fan test result is included in the comparison sheet; more detailed results reside in each specific heatsink review.

With a 125W heat load applied by the FrostyTech AMD K8 synthetic thermal test platform, the Silverstone NT07-AM2 heatsink yields a barely satisfactory result of 51.0°C over ambient at full fan speed. When the fan is run at the slower speed, 1500RPM, CPU die temperatures increase slightly to 60.1°C over ambient.

Silverstone have rated the NT07-AM2 heatsink for processors with a TDP up to 65W, so we must acknowledge that it is being over stressed in this test. For its compact size, the AMD socket AM2 Silverstone NT07-AM2 heatsink should perform satisfactorily on heat loads of 65W with its 80mm fan is spinning at full speed.
