Celeron class heatsinks tested at 85W
Results based on readings from a 30x30mm copper
interface die with 150W and 85W heat loads applied on the LGA775
version of the Mk.II Test Platform. Temperature results listed for
each heatsink were calculated by determining the rise over ambient

Intel processors vary in
power output between single and multi-core models, so FrostyTech tests heatsinks
with two thermal loads that represent the upper limit of each CPU family; 150W
and 85W.
With a
150W heat load applied by the Intel LGA775
version of FrostyTech's synthetic thermal test platform, the Sunbeamtech
Core-Contact Freezer 92mm Edition heatsink maintains a temperature of 25.3°C
over ambient, with 50.2dBA noise.
The 92mm
Edition Sunbeamtech heatsink was then tested with a reduced fan speed (1200RPM),
which resulted in an okay result of 32.8°C rise over ambient temperature.
On the
85W heat load test, the Sunbeamtech Core-Contact Freezer 92mm Edition heatsink
managed a 15.6°C rise over ambient at stock fan speed, and 19.5°C over ambient
at a reduced fan speed (31.5 dBA).
For a
122mm tall heatsink the Sunbeam Core-Contact Freezer 92mm Edition is pretty
average, coming in middle of the road in this reference chart. At reduced fan
speeds the heatsink offers okay performance, so you may want to consider using
it with 85W or 65W TDP processors. Anyway you slice it, there are cooler and
quieter heatsinks to pick from, and because the Sunbeamtech Core-Contact Freezer
92mm Edition heatsink stands over 110mm in height, it doesn't quite qualify as a
low profile heatsink either.
