The Heatsink Fan:
The 92x92x25mm fan spins at 1000-2300RPM with the provided manual
fan speed controller. Default speed is 2300RPM. A standard 3-pin motherboard header provides
power. The lack of any fan guard presents a challenge for systems with
many loose wires dangling around inside the case. The Apack Zerotherm BTF92
OC ed. heatsink stands 130mm tall. The seven bladed fan is internally illuminated with two
blue LEDs, and is removable from the heatsink by sliding it up and
out of the red frame where it's attached to the copper
fins. |
|
Heatsink Top:
From the top,
the Zerotherm BTF92 OC ed. heatsink resembles a Mothra-like butterfly. The copper fins are internally split down
the center so in effect there are two separate towers. Four 6mm
heatpipes are used in this heatsink, each being bent around so in effect there
are eight heatpipes weaving through the copper fins. The fan can be quickly
removed by pulling up on the triangular piece of red plastic. |
|
Heatsink Side A: The Zerotherm BTF92 OC ed. heatsink stands
130mm tall. The copper fins are 0.15mm thick and spaced 1.75mm apart. The
heatpipes are soldered to the copper base
plate for reduced thermal joint resistance. The cast aluminum base cap is swagged in place,
it's job is to transfer the load from the clamping frame evenly.

Heatsink Side B: From the
rear, the copper fins of the Apack Zerotherm BTF92 OC ed. heatsink are
spaced about 1.8mm apart. The heatpipes are soldered to a 4mm thick copper
base plate. The heatsink is about 108mm wide. |
|
Heatsink Base:
The copper base on the Zerotherm
BTF92 OC ed. heatsink is 36mm x 48mm in size and soldered to
the heat pipes. The base has a polished finish and is very flat. The surface
roughness is at or better than ~8 microinches, which is considered excellent.
Note the screw holes in the die-case aluminum base cap where the
Intel/AMD mounting clip is attached. |
