*heatsinks are ranked according to the 125w thermal test results column (rise over ambient temp.). low temperatures with low noise levels are considered best. for reference heatsinks with variable-speed fans, only the high speed (12v) fan test result is included in the comparison sheet; more detailed results reside in each specific heatsink review.

unsurprisingly, the evercool mag01-ca heatsink is the poorest performing k8 heatsink in this reference list, and one of the poorest performing k8 heatsinks we've tested thus far (a certain low noise heatsink did produce higher temps). It's 46.6°C rise above ambient temperature is not very impressive, and the stock socket 754 AMD heatsink handles the 125 Watt heat load from the FrostyTech Mk.II test platform 10 degrees cooler... so stick with that one.

Given the variety of heatsinks for the AMD Athlon64 platform to choose from, the Evercool MAG01-CA just doesn't make sense for either socket 754 or 939 processors. In attempting to support all current and past processor sockets, the Evercool MAG01-CA simply falls short on the Athlon64 front.
