TS Heatronics NCU-1000 Heatsink From All Angles

Heatsink Top:
The NCU-1000 comes with no fans, and uses none. The top of the heatsink is simply bare aluminum, painted black. Cooling fins jet out from either side.

Side A:
The aluminum cooling fins are bonded to the aluminum "U" shaped heatpipe which has been painted black. The 25mm high fins are 0.4mm thick and spaced 4mm apart. That may seem a rather wide spacing to have, but as the NCU-1000 is cooled primarily by convection, or by inner-case airflow it has to present very low airflow resistance. The heatpipe measures just 2mm thick, while the copper base that comes in direct contact with the core of the processor measures 5mm thick.

Side B:
From the side we can see the square cooling fins that are attached to the heatpipe are very simple in construction. Note the stainless steel plate holding the "U" shaped heatpipe to the copper at the very base. The NCU-1000 stands 145mm tall, so make sure your case is wide enough to accommodate a heatsink of this size.

Heatsink Base:

The 70mm x 86mm copper base is 5mm thick and is held in place on the remainder of the NCU-1000 with four screws which go into a stainless steel plate. The four holes around the outer edge allow the heatsink to slip over the mounting hardware and be torqued down to a snug fit on the Pentium 4. The copper base finish is smooth, and very flat.
