If you're looking at the list of reference coolers in shock and amazement then I suppose I should mention that of the heatsinks in this list the Arkua 848X-6B and Dynatron DC1206BMV are comparable to the Vantec CCK-7015.

All three are 1U heatsinks for the P4 platform, and since the results are rather close let's jump a head for the answer...

Well it appears as though the Dynatron-BMV 1U P4 heatsink offers a slight increase in cooling performance over the Vantec CCK-7015 cooler in spite of its skived copper construction as well. The Arkua 848x-6B falls in last place as far as these 1U P4 heatsinks are concerned.

Users of small form factor PC's may also want to take note of a heatsink like this so we have decided not to remove the rest of the reference coolers from the particular list.

Personally speaking, I'd also be interested to know if Vantec ever intend on modifying the basic layout of this cooler for video card use. There certainly is a lot of surface area here, and turning the CCK-7015 into a hybrid GeForce cooler could be quite advantageous. At the very least, little strips of the skived fins could make really good memory heatsinks... but that is just a thought to consider as nothing like that is currently available.

Overall, the Vantec CCK-7015 offers typical 1U P4 cooling, cooling which would be assisted by the forced air practically all 1U servers employ to keep components like memory, and chipsets cool. The skived fins are small, but Vantec have managed to pack a lot into this little package - and even though thermal performance compared to standard desktop coolers is substantial, for a 1U Pentium 4 heatsink the solid-copper CCK-7015 does alright.
