Abstract: Sitting above the heatsink are two 25mm thick 5000RPM fans. If Coolink have the equation right, the U1P2 should be an interesting heatsink to test out.

Coolink U1P2 From All Angles

The Fan:

The two fans are held in place with a unique set of spring wires. The system works well but users will be unable to upgrade to a larger, or smaller fan using these same wires. Both fans draw power from a standard Molex connector which isn't even a passthru (no very smart on Coolink's part). A separate three-pin connector is used to connect to the motherboard fan header so that RPM signals are still registered by the BIOS.

Top: The fin structure of the Coolink U1P2 is pretty standard stuff. A few are cross cut where the wire clips around the fans. The aluminum fins are all plated in nickel, and the heights of the tips range by a few millimeters. The surface cuts on either side of the clip are for the wires which hold the fan in place.

Side A: The wire clip hooks into the frame of the heatsink to securely hold the fans in place. The clip makes use of all three tabs on the socket in an effort to hold the large heatsink firmly in place. The clip is engaged with a screwdriver.
Side B:
The fins vary in height by 3mm at the tips. The fins are 1mm thick and spaced about 2mm apart. Springing up 30mm from the 6mm thick & 3mm thick copper base the fins are all nickel plated, but smooth surfaced.

Heatsink Base:

The copper base is soldered to the rest of the heatsink and offers a fairly level and smooth mounting surface. The processor really only needs a small amount of thermal compound to make good contact with the copper surface.
