True enough, the Akasa AK350 comes in about mid-range in this list of reference heatsinks. The full copper construction works well to transfer heat up and away from the base, but airflow is what will pull that heat from the copper and out to the surrounding environment.

With all heatsinks of this type there is always the problem of the fan motor placement over the hottest part of the heatsink. Perhaps YS-Tech will soon develop a 60mm version of their TMD fan for use in 1U servers.

Overall, even though the temperatures in this set of reference coolers are much higher than what we would see with a more traditional desktop cooler, the Akasa AK350 works well. In an enclosed case with additional cross ventilation, temperatures may be a little different, but those sort of parameters vary too much with the type of case employed to test here.
