Globalwin CAK4-86 Copper Heatsink Review

Abstract: True performance coolers are starting to fall by the wayside as consumers have gradually picked up the call to arms for quieter, low-noise cooling over raw fan power, and high decibels.

Acoustic Samples: Listen to this Heatsink!

After powering up the fan there was no doubt about it - the 38mm thick Delta fan moves a lot of air and creates a lot of noise. If you are planning on using this fan and heatsink combo I'd recommend reading our reviews on Sound Absorbing Materials for cases. That way you can sound proof your case to some degree. You can listen to this heatsink in operation for yourself by clicking on the headphones and playing the MP3 recording.

Sound Level Measurements:

Listening to the actual noise a heatsink makes allows you to hear what pure numbers alone cannot get across. To further emphasize FrostyTech's reliance on cold hard facts when evaluating a heatsink, we also take Decibel readings with a sound level meter. These results may be higher than the manufacturer's listed specs, but then again these are real world measurements. Measurements are made in dB, in the A scale.
