We had some immediate impressions of how the FortisTech Monster 90 would perform right off the
batt. After looking at the thermal results, those impressions were brushed aside. For such a
complex heatsink, it managed to perform at a level higher than we though.
This is due largely to the copper core and central aluminum extrusion which does appear to
be well though out.
Let's go right to the final rise above ambient
temperatures now to see how the Monster 90 stacked
up.

The end results are not at all what we expected from the
Fortis Tech Monster 90 heatsink. Based around a core which appears to be
relatively effective, the heatsink and its 92mm fan prove to be a pretty decent combination, coming in at basically the same
level as several other heatsinks powered by much louder 60mm and 70mm
Delta fans.
The Fortis Tech Monster 90 does not come with a very
predictable design, and there are indeed a few things about it that seem less
than necessary, but as long as it works that is what is important. Keep in mind
though, that with an overall height of 75mm, the heatsink is large - so if
you are considering this cooler make sure it will fit
in your case, and around your adjacent components before you buy. The Monster 90
comes in a large plastic case with copper shim and pseudo 'silver'
thermal compound.
