The initial results
are not looking too promising for this rather large aluminum heatsink as it comes
in very low in the list of reference heatsinks here. Let's look at the final
rise above ambient temperatures to really see how the Tocools AIM stands out.

The final
performance of the Tocools AIM is a little better, but still rather low on the
totem pole. It is important to remember that the unit we tested is still very
much a pre-production cooler. Most of Tocools heatsinks right now are based on a
triangular base at the bottom of the fins, and I would suspect that this
heatsink will be seeing similar treatment before a production version is
actually released.
In this
orientation the Tocools
AIM doesn't really offer much to the cooling world. It is a good
OEM cooler I suppose, but there are much smaller heatsinks with similar performance so
the benefit really isn't here yet. A little extra work may be able to whip
the AIM into better shape. If the latest crop of heatsinks to arrive in the lab
are any indication, Tocools are steadily on their way to making a better cooler,
so we'll be looking forward to those, and passing on the AIM model.
