There was an odd sound with this fan because the wire clip pinched the plastic frame in just enough that it brushed against the impeller every now and again. Listening to the actual noise a heatsink makes allows you to hear what pure numbers alone cannot get across. To further emphasize FrostyTech's reliance on cold hard facts when evaluating a heatsink, we also take Decibel readings with a sound level meter. These results may be higher than the manufacturer's listed specs, but then again these are real world measurements.

With a measured sound output of basically 50dB the Coolink U2L isn't classed as a silent heatsink, but rather a "lower noise" cooler. Chances are that in most average systems the heatsink won't be louder than the power supply or videocard cooler.
