The initial
temperature test results of this combination are really good, and it is little
wonder with a fan like
that. To be honest, the Thermalright SLK800 design is also quite capable from what we can see.
Manufacturers like Tocools also use a similar triangular base shape to help deflect the air
out to the sides, and remove the possibility of warm standing air under the motor.

As performance heatsinks for the Socket
A/370 platform go, the Thermalright SLK800 raises the bar rather high with the
help of one very loud fan. Still, if performance cooling is your main deciding factor, this combination
is the one to get. For the rest of us who really don't need something
quite this loud, the SLK800 can accommodate smaller fans like 25mmx60mm or even 15mmx70mm - it all
depends on your requirements.
In any case, to those of you who wrote into us here
at FrostyTech.com and requested this review, here you go! The
results speak for themselves, and apart from the fact that the clip take a
big chunk of copper out of the central portion, there isn't much to frown on.
I'd be really interested to see a Socket 754 (Hammer) version or even a socket 478 version in the
future, but for the moment, I believe socket A is the only one covered by this type
of Thermalright heatsink.
The folks at 2cooltek.com have the Thermalright SLK800
up for grabs for about $42USD without a fan, and you should be able to find a
38mm thick 80mm Delta for $15USD on the web.
