The fan is large source of noise, but since it pumps out 50CFM of airflow this is to be expected. We could have tested this heatsink with a number of smaller fans, but since this is a performance heatsink we thought it best to illustrate the ultimate level of performance achievable. Sound Level Measurements:

Listening to the actual noise a heatsink makes allows you to hear what pure numbers alone cannot get across. To further emphasize FrostyTech's reliance on cold hard facts when evaluating a heatsink, we also take Decibel readings with a sound level meter. These results may be higher than the manufacturer's listed specs, but then again these are real world measurements.

There you have it, the SLK800 with the 38mm thick Delta comes in at 66.2 dB in our real world tests. That is pretty damn loud.
