The
Evercool places in the good cooling range,
but as we expected the performance is not in the range of some other all-copper, or high RPM fan-based
heatsinks. This isn't a surprise of course, but it is always interesting
to see where new heatsinks come into the list of reference heatsinks.
Instinct and build composition (all
aluminum or all copper) play a big role, but you can never
tell 100% of the time until the heatsink is loaded and tested.

When we
look at the final rise above ambient temperatures we can see that the Evercool ND18715
performs well, coming in at just about dead center in the list of reference heatsinks.
The
cooler would be a good option to consider for any stock configured system, but it just doesn't have the teeth for high-performance
overclocking. I'm glad to see that Evercool have gone with a clipping mechanism that takes
advantage of all three tabs on the socket. This means there is less chance of a
tab getting broken off, and can also help to keep the heatsink sitting more true.
Bottom line, the Evercool ND18715 is a
good performer, but that's as far as it is able to take things. The heatsink
is fairly quiet, but extra performance isn't in the equation - good for stock systems.
