AVC 112C81 - All Sides

The Fan: The fan is 60mm wide, 15mm thick and sits in a plastic fan shroud which helps direct airflow down into the fins of the extrusion. The fan connects to the motherboard via a three-pin connector, and has a lead for RPM monitoring. A fan shroud helps move air over the full 78mm length of the heatsink.

Top: Contrary to some heatsink designs, there are no cross-cuts other than the 6mm gap for the chip to sit in. Each fin section is 35mm in height, and there are a total of 28 fins in the heatsink. The hold drilled for the copper insert does not break though the base of the central fins as with some other manufacturers.

Side A: The only cut mark in this heatsink is the 6mm path which forms the clip trough. The finish on all the fins is quite smooth, and no serrated marks are evident to increase turbulence. The clip requires a screwdriver to engage.
Side B:
Each of the 28 fins is roughly 1.0mm thick and 32mm tall. The fins are spaced 2mm apart. The base measures 8mm thick and is undercut to make room for the socket cam arm. The fan is attached by simply squeezing the screws in between the outermost fins.

Heatsink Base:

The heatsink comes with a small square of Hi-Flow 225UT thermal interface pre-applied. For our testing, we removed this pad and applied a ceramic based thermal compound. The base is not machined at all, but really doesn't need to be as the core of the processor only makes contact with the copper portion. The copper section is very flat, but seems to rise up ever so slightly at the center.
