Now technically speaking I wouldn't consider this a mod - there is no cutting, or real building involved - but more of a simple addition let's say. With the Akasa LED fans fresh off the review circuit, and sitting on the test bench a few inches away an idea was quick to develop. Since the Zalman fan has a blue transparent fan duct, it might be kind of cool to add in a blue-LED fan. The results are pretty cool as you can see from the following images. The plastic isn't frosted so the effect is a bit exaggerated by the camera lens, but is still looks pretty neat in real life - almost as if it was meant to be this way. Just add a case window etch or applique to that clear plastic air duct and you could have something totally personalized sticking out through a standard case window. Anyway you get the idea, and before we start having too much fun with blue lights, and case modding tangents let's get back to the review at hand and check out the heatsink.
