Acoustic Samples: Listen to this Heatsink! You can listen to this heatsink in operation by simply clicking on the small pair of headphones and listening to the MP3 file. The fan does spin at a decent RPM, but fan noise doesn't seem as annoying as it could have been (a good thing). Overall, most fans under 25mm in height have pretty tolerable noise signatures in our experience. This isn't the case every single time, but a good rule of thumb.
Sound Level Measurements: Listening to the actual noise a heatsink makes allows you to hear what pure numbers alone cannot get across. To further emphasize FrostyTech's reliance on cold hard facts when evaluating a heatsink, we also take Decibel readings with a sound level meter. These results may be higher than the manufacturer's listed specs, but then again these are real world measurements.
It is best when heatsinks produce less than about 55 dB of noise so the Titan TTC-CU5TB is a bit noisier than we like to see. All things considered the fan here will be noticeable, but the tone isn't that high pitched. Higher pitched noise signatures tend to annoy people the fastest.
