Initial performance figures show us that the
Cho-Liang may actually be better than we had first thought. The temperature
results on the small interface die at 100W are especially good. On the larger
die the heatsink evidentially doesn't have the features needed to provide very
good cooling and shows elevated results.

These are the numbers we have all been
waiting to see, and the all-copper Cho Liang CB0315U17 heatsink manages to produce some pretty
good results. In fact, the Cho Liang heatsink is able to keep up with some
rather more expensive heatsinks and come in under the 50 degree mark - something
we always like to see.
The
performance heatsink barrier starts at about the 40 degree mark so this heatsink
isn't quite there with this particular fan, but it really isn't that far
off either. Most of the heatsinks which manage performance level
cooling use much louder, and much faster RPM fans. Even though the
CB0315U17 comes in a few degrees behind (pretty much the same if you factor in % error) the
all aluminum CB0307U17 there is room to grow. The performance we saw here is with
a relatively slow 3500RPM fan. If a 38mm Delta fan were attached to the
heatsink in its place you can be sure the results would
change for the better.
With its very thin copper fins, and all copper
construction the Cho-Liang teeters on the edge of near-performance cooling, and
offers in its standard package some good cooling for the cost, and moderate
noise levels.
