Titan TTC-MT3AB Heatsink Review
Titan TTC-MT3AB Heatsink Review

Abstract: The Titan MT3AB certainly gains points for trying something new with this heatsink, but that is about its only strong aspect.

Two fans, each blowing in the same direction can cause a lot of turbulance, and the MT3AB is moderately noisy, but not so that you would be looking to a Delta fan for something quieter ;-).

The MT3AB produces initial results which are a little bit lower than that of the reference Intel heatsink. The difference is a bit of a toss up because this cooler was originally intended for use on the socket 423 platform.

However, since that chip is now no longer in production, and since sockets can be used to mount 423 heatsink on 478 processors, that is the way we are testing here. With that in mind, it doesn't look like the MT3AB is offering consumers any benefit at all over the stock intel cooler.

Conclusions:

True enough, the Titan MT3AB offers performance at just about the same level as that of the stock Intel heatsink.

Of all the heatsinks we have looked at for the socket 478 platform thus far, the MT3AB does earn points for some of the most original extrusion designs. Unfortunately, the design, while complex, doesn't offer any great advantages. With such long distances between the fins and the base the MT3AB just doesn't offer the Intel user any great benefits over standard cooling apparatus, and so you might as well just overlook it.
