Chauh-Choung DTA-15 Heatsink Review
Chauh-Choung DTA-15 Heatsink Review

Abstract: The DTA-15 looks very similar to the Thermalright CB-6L on the outset, but on closer inspection the DTA-15 is not nearly as chromed, and has a slightly different extrusion pattern.

The DTA-15 uses a small fan that operates a moderate RPM speeds so we don't have a really, really loud heatsink here, despite what it looks like the waveform graph. The best way to hear for your self is to click on the little pair of headphones and hear for your self.

Well the first thing that comes to my mind is perhaps we underestimated the coverage of that solder under the copper plate. The DTA-15 manages to produce some surprisingly good results for an OEM heatsinks, and seems to handle the higher 100W heat load well enough.

In this list of heatsinks however, the Thermal Integration shows the best possible performance, with the similar CB-6L bringing up the far rear.

While the DTA-15 manages to come in as an average cooler, I can't help wonder if this OEM heatsink was just lucky? The solder used to hold the copper plate in place is less than even around the edges, and could mean big variations between one heatsink and another. That is really just speculation, but I'm sure it is difficult to get even and consistent soldering each and every time so there has to be some small amount of variance.

In any case the numbers speak for themselves, and while the DTA-15 absolutely can't handle large heatspreader covered processors, it does pretty well with the bare silicon variety.
