The AVC Sun Flower cooler (177140) is at the top of this list of reference heatsinks and underlines a move toward this style of cooler we have been noticing. The cooper core, and the 56 curved fins offer users an easy way to upgrade over the stock Intel 478 cooler by a good degree. In our tests, the 117140 showed a 10 degree difference in temperatures, and this is indicative of this heatsink style. You see, part of the benefit of the exhaust air exiting the heatsink at the base is that it is also used to cool down the processor however indirectly. We've seen similar examples with the Arkua heatsinks which cross both platforms and support socket A and socket 478 processors. As it stands, the Sun Flower cooler and the Arkua 8568 are just about even in terms of performance. The Arkua cooler does have the benefit in terms of upgrading to a more powerful fan as the AVC is pretty much stuck with the 15mm thick fan. All in all, a very impressive cooler, especially in terms of design, and undoubtedly so in terms of cooling.
