CCK-6027D Heatsink From All Angles
The Fan:
The 12V fan draws a hefty 0.41A (most fans draw less than 0.2A) and spins at a listed 7000rpm. Oddly I would have expected to see a fan grill on this little guy, but that isn't the case. The fan is 25mm thick, and uses a 7-blade design. It connects to the motherboard fan header by a 3-pin connector which supports RPM monitoring.

Heatsink Top:
The fan shroud is made from aluminum and amazingly has the name of the heatsink imprinted on it. Heck, even the 7mm wide clip is emblazoned with the Thermaltake name. You'll notice that the center of the clip is focused on the center of the copper slug.

Side A:
Had the manufacturer kept the scalloped fin texturing on every internal fin we might have seen a bit better performance than we did from the Volcano 6Cu. The texturing helps create turbulence and increases the overall surface area of the fins - if ever so slightly.
Side B:
A typical extruded heatsink design, with an added in copper slug, the Volcano 6Cu+ doesn't break any design awards with its fin pattern. Fins are tapered, ~1.0mm to 0.6mm or so, and spaced about 2mm apart. There are 22 fins in total. The base is 8mm thick and under cut 2mm to enable the heatsink to easily clear the socket cam arm. You can see from this angle that the copper slug is not completely flush with the surface of the heatsink's base.
Heatsink Base:
The core of the processor make contact with the 40mm diameter copper slug. The slug is bit higher than the rest of the base, but this shouldn't matter much. The copper slug is perfectly flat, and fairly smooth. To get rid of all machining marks so people may want to fully lap the copper portion of the base.
