We did notice that the Glaciator was not nearly as loud as the Delta fan is on most other heatsinks that are on the market. Contrary to our initial impressions of the Augmented Fan Technology the Glaciator is not completely silent. It does produce an audible amount of noise, but to give some credit, the tone is not nearly as sharp as that of the Delta.

It's interesting to note that while the Millennium does make a slight trade-off for ultimate cooling by not using the very noisy Delta fan, the addition of such a fan only augments the thermal results by about 2 degrees. For the sake of curiosity, we tested the Glaciator without its' standard fan, and instead with the 6800RPM Delta fan mounted on it. The noise was considerably higher, and the temperature reading dropped to roughly 48 degrees. A minor improvement for a large acoustical trade off.

For its size, the Glaciator comes in a bit short of what we'd really like to see from it. That said, it is also important to remember that this heatsink has been designed from the outset with the intent of providing cooling with the least amount of fan noise. The largest tradeoff appears to be sheer weight, and a somewhat slower then the current median fan RPM.

Despite the slightly slower fan, the Glaciator does perform very well. Additionally, as a solid copper heatsink it does offer some degree of an upgrade path as the Augmented fan could potentially be substituted with a more zippy (and noisy) fan. The overall difference between the Glaciator and the Thermalright SK6 is no more than ~3 degrees, though the base finish is superior on the Glaciator. Definitely a cool heatsink with a lot of potential.
