OCZ Twin Turbo Heatsink Review Whenever I hear about the 'Overclockerz Store' I sometimes wonder if the OCZ fellows don't spend their entire day trying to make simple little heatsinks into daemons of cooling prowess. After all, after opening the box which contained the OCZ Twin Turbo heatsink I was met with not one, but two 25x60x60mm fans. The heatsink itself is barely over 75mm in width! Looking down on the two chromed fan grills one is met with 120mm worth of fan. Turning the heatsink on its side, you can those fans are just almost twice the size of the heatsink. Clearly we can see what this heatsink has been designed for. Cooling, and plenty of it - at least that's what it should be doing, but does it really?
After all, a fan is by no means a substitute for a well designed heatsink design. Strapping the biggest of fans, or for that matter, multiple fans onto a lackluster bit of metal is not going to really do much more than create a lot of noise. If the fans are really poorly positioned they may not even move much air around. Badly placed fans can sometimes pressurize areas of the heatsink fin region, effectively halting sufficient airflow.
