frostytech's socket LGA2011 Intel synthetic thermal test platform stresses socket LGA2011/1366 compatible heatsinks with a 200W heat load. Keep in mind that the AMD Integrated Heat Spreader and Intel LGA2011 Integrated Heat Spreader both measure ~38x38mm, so these test results can be extrapolated to higher wattage AMD processors as well. With a 200W heat load applied by the Intel LGA2011/1366 version of FrostyTech's synthetic thermal test platform, the Reeven Ouranos RC-1401 heatsink yields a good result of 18.4°C over ambient at stock fan speed (1700RPM / 52.5dBA). Not bad, especially considering so many of the competing LGA2011 heatsinks are all-in-one liquid cooling solutions. Slowing the 140mm PWM fan on the Reeven Ouranos heatsink down to 300RPM had the effect of starving the heatsink of adequate airflow, consequently test temperatures increased to a relatively poor result of 47.1°C over ambient. Reeven really ought to have pegged the lower fan speed at 600RPM. Ultimately, the Reeven Ouranos RC-1401 heatsink is a better CPU cooler than the companies' 'Hans' model. The only physical limitation with the Reeven Ouranos heatsink seems to be the tower cooler's height - 160mm is tall. The asymmetrical build of the cooler may also make installing this heatsink on certain motherboards a little easier - the distance from the fan to the center of heatsink base is a mere 50mm! Dialing back the speed of Reeven's Ouranos heatsink to 300RPM proved impractical for any processor cooling application beyond sub-85W TDP processors, but at full speed the Reeven Ouranos heatsink is certainly worth considering.
