Silverstone's Tundra TD02 CPU liquid cooler offers up some refreshing design elements for the computer enthusiast looking to assemble a system that stands out from the crowd. In place of the standard black heat exchanger we find something vaguely reminiscent of a Mac, or a Star Wars set - grey anodized aluminum wraps around the heat exchanger while white plastic bezels blend in with the white FEP coolant tubing to give a very spacy look. Beyond this, the Tundra TD02 makes use of a novel chrome plated aluminum waterblock which features a soldered-on copper base plate. It's all eye candy, sure, but the set dressing doesn't seem to be at the expense of good quality cooling components.

Since the Tundra TD02 makes use of a nominal 240mm heat exchanger, the system ships with a pair of white impeller 120mm fans which are mounted side-by-side on the large 278x124x45mm aluminum heat exchanger. The fans operate at 2500 to 1500RPM and move upwards of 92CFM at 3.5mm/H2O according to manufacturer specs.

Users will need at least two free 120mm chassis fan mounting points to install this CPU cooler, but otherwise the Tundra TD02 cooler is otherwise a fairly normal offering. It ships fully assembled, plumbed and filled.

Silverstone's Tundra TD02 installs onto Intel socket LGA775/115x/1366/2011 processors and AMD socket AM2/AM3/FM1/FM2 CPUs and retails for around $119 USD / CDN.

Liquid-to-Air Heat Exchanger

Silverstone's Tundra TD02 ships with an aluminum heat exchanger that is 124mm tall, 278mm wide and 45mm thick. Unlike most liquid coolers on the market, Silverstone have wrapped a stock aluminum heat exchanger with grey-anodized aluminum sides and white plastic decorative plates to give it a more streamlined visual appearance.

As with all other self-contained CPU liquid coolers, you'll need to install the Tundra TD02 into a computer chassis with at least two accessible 120mm fan vents. The heat exchanger mounts to the inside of the chassis with four screws passing through the fan vent.

This heat exchanger ships with two Silverstone AS1225H12 120mm PWM fans that run at 2500RPM to 1500RPM.

Mounting Hardware

The Silverstone Tundra TD02 is compatible with Intel socket LGA2011/1366/115x/775 and AMD socket FM2/FM1/AM2/AM3 processors. The cooler ships with one motherboard bracket and two pairs of metal mounting brackets that screw onto the waterblock/pump head to accommodate each processor platform. A fan Y-splitter and thermal compound are also supplied.

This heatsink will be tested on FrostyTech's Intel and AMD version of the Mk.II synthetic thermal temperature test platform, and compared against hundreds of reference Intel and AMD heatsinks. The whole test methodology is outlined in detail here if you'd like to know what equipment is used, and the parameters under which the tests are conducted.
