85W.
Results based on readings from a 30x30mm copper
interface die with 150W and 85W heat loads applied on the
LGA1155/1156/775 version of the Mk.II Test Platform. Temperature
results listed for each heatsink were calculated by determining the
rise over ambient temperatures at time of test. Information on

with a
150w heat load applied by the intel lga115x/775 version of frostytech's
synthetic thermal test platform, the little Zalman CNPS2X
heatsink maintains a poor temperature result of 56.8°C over ambient at its
stock fan speed. Thermal test results drop to an unsatisfactory
67.0°C over ambient at the
CNPS2X's lower fan speed... clearly 150W is too much and this heatsink is better
suited to more energy efficient 65W and 95W TDP processors.
Zalman's CNPS2X heatsink was next tested
with an 85W heat load. Under these test conditions the little 85mm diameter cooler
that stands just 28mm tall posted reasonable test rests; the
Zalman CNPS2X maintained a good temperature result of 35.1°C over
ambient at stock fan speed and 43.3°C over ambient at its slower fan speed.
Ultimately, the CNPS2X low profile heatsink from Zalman
is only suitable for use with sub-95W TDP processors from the AMD and Intel
stables. Where heatsinks less than 45mm tall (1.5U) are concerned, it comes in
behind the Evercool HPL-815, Scythe Kozuti, Thermolab TLI-U and Silverstone
NT07-775 heatsinks. If we reduce the height margin to 36mm, that leaves
only the Silverstone NT07-775 heatsink with a 2°C lead.
