Pentium 4 / Celeron class heatsinks tested at 85W
Results based on readings from a 30x30mm copper
interface die with 150W and 85W heat loads applied on the
LGA1155/1156/775 version of the Mk.II Test Platform. Temperature
results listed for each heatsink were calculated by determining the
rise over ambient temperatures at time of test. Information on

intel
processors vary in power output between single and multi-core models, so
frostytech tests heatsinks with two thermal loads that represent the upper limit
of each cpu family. with a 150w heat load applied by the intel lga1155/1156/775 version of frostytech's
synthetic thermal test platform, the Corsair Hydro H60 liquid cooling system was
able to maintain a very good temperature result of 17.6°C over ambient with the
120mm fan running at it's full speed of 2000RPM (45.6dBA noise).
After slowing the PWM fan to 900RPM, the Hydro H60 water
cooling system yielded a modest increase in CPU test die temperature, to 26.6°C
over ambient with 31.9dBA noise output.
Corsair's
Hydro H60 liquid cooling system was next tested with an 85W heat load. Under
these test conditions the Hydro H60 managed a very good 10.9°C over ambient at
full fan speed and 15.9°C over ambient at reduced fan speed!
Ultimately, Corsair's Hydro H60 liquid cooling
heatsink is a good entry level thermal solution in its own right, producing
moderate noise at the very most. Yet as you've seen in the heatsink reference
charts, slightly fewer than a dozen air cooled heatsinks out perform it with
similar or reduced noise levels. If noise isn't too high on your list, I'd
expect extra performance is achievable with a 2700RPM fan (as used on the H80i
and H100i platforms) or by doubling up fans on both sides of the Hydro H60's
heat exchanger... such modifications are beyond the scope of this review,
however. In all other respects, Corsair have put together a very well built and
easy to install watercooling CPU heatsink here.
