Results based on readings from a 30x30mm copper
interface die with 150W and 85W heat loads applied on the
LGA1155/1156/775 version of the Mk.II Test Platform. Temperature
results listed for each heatsink were calculated by determining the
rise over ambient temperatures at time of test. Information on

the heat output from intel processors
varies so frostytech tests with two thermal values that represent the upper
limits of existing cpu families. with a 150w heat load applied by the intel
lga1155/1156/775 version of frostytech's synthetic thermal test platform, the
Thermaltake Water 2.0 Pro liquid cooling system was able to maintain a very good
temperature result of just 15.5°C over ambient (53.3dBA noise), with both fans
operating at full speed.
After reducing the
speed of the 120mm fans on either side of the heat exchanger from 2000RPM to
1000RPM, the synthetic CPU die temperature increased moderately, to 16.2°C over
ambient. Reducing fan speed decreased noise output to 47.4dBA.
These
results mirror what Frostytech witnessed on the AMD thermal test platform - the
Water 2.0 Pro really doesn't need both of its fan's spinning at 2000 RPM when
the low-end fan speed offers nearly the same thermal performance with noticeably
less noise.
Next, the
Thermaltake Water 2.0 Pro was tested with an 85W heat load. Under this test
scenario the Water 2.0 Pro maintained an excellent test result of 9.0°C over
ambient with both fans spinning at full speed and 9.6°C over ambient with the
fans slowed to 1000RPM.
The only
complaint we have about this unit is that Thermaltake state compatibility with
LGA775 motherboards, yet the Thermaltake Water 2.0 Pro did not ship with a
mounting bracket that supports this Intel socket. To conduct these tests,
Frostytech had to pull the correct LGA775 Asetek bracket from a previous review
to use.
Asetek
are the engineers behind the Thermaltake Water 2.0 Pro system and clearly by the
results we've witnessed in this review, the engineers from Denmark know how to
make a good liquid cooling solution for today's desktop computers. From a
thermal performance standpoint, the Thermaltake Water 2.0 Pro liquid cooling
solution offers excellent results at full fan speed.
