Results based on readings from a 30x30mm copper
interface die with 150W and 85W heat loads applied on the
LGA775/1156 version of the Mk.II Test Platform. Temperature results
listed for each heatsink were calculated by determining the rise
over ambient temperatures at time of test. Information on

The heat output
from Intel processors varies so Frostytech tests with two thermal values that
represent the upper limits of existing CPU families.
With a
150W heat load applied by the Intel version of FrostyTech's synthetic thermal test platform, the Thermolab Trinity
heatsink maintains an excellent temperature result of just 15.0°C over ambient
at full fan speed (1800RPM/50.6 dBA). This is less than a degree off the best
performing Intel heatsinks, though a touch louder.
After
reducing the speed of Trinity's 130mm PWM fan from 1800RPM to 600RPM, the
heatsink was able to keep the synthetic CPU die temperature at a reasonable
26.9°C over ambient. The trade off in temperature saw noise levels kept at a
whisper quiet 31.8 dBA.
Thermolab's Trinity heatsink was then tested on an 85W heat

Under these test conditions the Thermolab Trinity heatsink had no problem
maintaining a temperature result of 9.7°C over ambient at stock fan speed,
15.5°C at reduced fan speed.
Height is such deciding factor in choosing a heatsink
that we feel compelled to evaluate the Thermolab Trinity heatsink not as an
Intel or AMD-specific thermal solution, but rather as a 149mm tall CPU cooler.
As such, the Thermolab Trinity heatsink yielded excellent results on
the Intel test platform and very good results on the synthetic AMD CPU die.
Judging by the test results, the close spacing of the exposed 6mm diameter
heatpipes (forming a 28mm wide section of the base) makes the Thermolab Trinity
ideally suited to the ~29.5mm square IHS of many Intel processors.
