Intel Core i5 / Core i3 / Core 2 Duo /
Pentium 4 / Celeron class heatsinks tested at 85W
Results based on readings from a 30x30mm copper
interface die with 150W and 85W heat loads applied on the
LGA775/1156 version of the Mk.II Test Platform. Temperature results
listed for each heatsink were calculated by determining the rise
over ambient temperatures at time of test. Information on

Frostytech tests with two
thermal values that represent the upper limits of existing Intel CPU families.
With a 150W heat load applied by the Intel LGA775 version of FrostyTech's
synthetic thermal test platform first, the Dynatron Evo-11 heatsink maintains an
average temperature result of 26.8°C over ambient (54.1dBA noise) at full fan
speed.
Under similar test conditions and reduced fan speed, the
noise output from the Dynatron Evo-11 heatsink levels off at a virtually silent
39.5dBA while CPU die temperature increases to 32.1°C over ambient.
Dynatron's Evo-11 heatsink was then tested with an 85W heat
load. In this test the Evo-11 heatsink easily maintained a temperature of 16.4°C
over ambient at full fan speed and 19.3°C over ambient at the reduced fan speed
of 1000RPM.
The Evo-11 heatsink with it's base of seven
stacked 6mm diameter heatpipes is an interesting concept, but one that
ultimately falls short. At best it offers average thermal performance at audible
sound levels. Given the significant number of heatsinks in the
Frostytech reference charts that out perform the Evo-11 heatsink, it's clear
that although it gets the job done just fine, there's really no need to settle
for it. Bottom line, pass on the Dynatron Evo-11 heatsink altogether.
