Intel processors vary in power output between single and multi-core models, so FrostyTech tests heatsinks with two thermal loads that represent the upper limit of each CPU family. With a 150W heat load applied by the Intel LGA775/1156 version of FrostyTech's synthetic thermal test platform, the Titan Hati TTC-NC15TZ heatsink maintains an excellent temperature of 17.0°C over ambient at stock fan speed (50.0dBA noise).

Reducing the 120mm PWM fan from 2200RPM to 800RPM sees CPU die temperatures increase dramatically to an average result of 28.7°C over ambient. Noise output falls substantially from 50.0 dBA to 32.1 dBA.

On the 85W heat load test, the Titan Hati TTC-NC15TZ heatsink manages a 9.7°C rise over ambient at stock fan speed and 17.0°C over ambient at a reduced fan speed.

Given the performance trends we continue to see from exposed heatpipe base heatsinks it's not surprising the little known Titan Hati TTC-NC15TZ manages very good performance results at full fan speed...

What did catch our attention, though, is how quickly the Titan TTC-NC15TZ's good thermal results drop to an average level once fan speed is decreased to 800RPM. That suggests the engineering behind the Titan Hati TTC-NC15TZ is a little rough around the edges -or the heatsink is heavily optimized for full-fan-speed operation at the detriment of lower air flow rates. It may be that low fan speed operation is best done with a second 120mm exhaust fan installed, as one can be with the supplied posts (second fan not included).

Ultimately, while it is capable of very good thermal performance users may find the Titan TTC-NC15TZ heatsink unable to cope when the situation demands quieter operation. Particularly as several other heatsinks in the reference charts offer the best of both worlds by default.
