FrostyTech Heatsink Noise Level Measurements Noise level Decibel measurements of each heatsinks' fan in operation are taken with the aid of a sound level meter and sound isolating enclosure. The values may be higher than the mfgr's listed specs, but are directly comparable to one another. Measurements are made on the dB (A) scale, lower values are best. The eleven-blade white impeller of the 92mm PWM fan on the Arctic Cooling Freezer 11 LP heatsink spins at 2000RPM by default, creating a modest 45.3 dBA noise. At a reduced fan speed of 1200RPM, the Freezer 11 LP heatsink hums along at a whisper quiet 37.5 dBA.

We should point out that while the Freezer 11 LP's specs indicate fan speeds of between 2000RPM to 900RPM, the unit Frostytech tested only slowed to at most 1200RPM. Next up are the Intel thermal test results as this heatsink does not support any AMD processors.
