4 / Celeron class heatsinks tested at 85W
Results based on readings from a 30x30mm copper
interface die with 150W and 85W heat loads applied on the LGA775
version of the Mk.II Test Platform. Temperature results listed for
each heatsink were calculated by determining the rise over ambient

The heat output
from Intel processors varies, so Frostytech tests with two thermal values that
represent the upper limits of existing CPU families.
With a
150W heat load applied by the Intel LGA775 version of FrostyTech's synthetic
thermal test platform first, the SilenX EFZ-120HA3 heatsink maintains an average
temperature result of 22.7°C over ambient (41.7dBA noise) at full fan speed.
After
reducing fan speed from 2000RPM to 800RPM, CPU die temperatures increase
moderately to 26.5°C over ambient. Noise levels fall to 38.2 dBA.
The SilenX
EFZ-120HA3 heatsink was then tested on the Frostytech Mrk.II synthetic thermal
test platform with an 85W heat load. Under these test conditions the heatsink
had no problem maintaining a CPU die temperature of 11.9°C at stock fan speed
and 16.6°C at reduced fan speed.
SilenX
have produced a good lower noise heatsink in the SilenX EFZ-120HA3, but you
might want to consider opting for the slightly larger SilenX EFZ-120HA4 model to give yourself the option of better
cooling performance if your CPU is rated for 150W TDP or thereabouts. A moderate
increases in noise will follow.
