Intel socket 775 processors vary in power output between single and multi-core models, so FrostyTech tests heatsinks with two thermal loads that represent the upper limit of each CPU family; 150W and 85W.

With a 150W heat load applied by the Intel LGA775 version of FrostyTech's synthetic thermal test platform, the Cool IT Domino ALC liquid cooling system is clearly a capable thermal solution.

Although noise levels are an undesirable 60.2 dBA, the Cool IT Domino ALC is able to maintain a temperature of just 17.8°C over ambient at full fan speed. With its 120mm fan slowed down to 1030RPM, the thermal solution runs at a quieter 40.7 dBA, but in this scenario LGA775 CPU die temperature rises to 27.1°C over ambient.

The Cool IT Domino ALC liquid cooling system was then tested with an 85W heat load on the LGA 775 test platform. Under these test conditions the CPU test die averaged 10.6°C over ambient at stock fan speed, and 19.4°C at the quieter fan speed.

Ultimately, CoolIT's Domino ALC self-contained liquid cooling system offers excellent cooling performance at somewhat loud noise levels. This is the crux of compact liquid cooling rigs, and it's a difficult challenge to overcome.

Given the range of standard air cooled heatsinks which offer lower test temperatures and run quieter, it's difficult to recommend the Domino ALC or any liquid cooling system for that matter. The Domino ALC is more than capable of running at fairly quiet levels (40dBA or thereabouts), but at a significant sacrifice to its cooling potential. Again, there are many standard air heatsinks to pick from in Frostytech's reference charts that offer lower thermal results and equivalent noise output. Those thermal solutions are much simpler to install and will never dry up or leak anything. The Cool IT Domino ALC has of course not leaked during Frostytech's testing, but several years from now who's to say what the fluid status will be... we certainly can't.

Much like the Ibuypower IBP-Z001, when operating at its quietest levels the Cool IT Domino ALC self-contained liquid cooling system only yields average thermal results. CoolIT have created a relatively simple all-in-one watercooling system here, which should offer maintenance free use for at least a couple years, but unless you're facing space limitations a standard tower heatsink is better bang for the buck.
