from a 30x30mm copper interface die with 150W and 85W heat loads
applied on the LGA775 version of the Mk.II Test Platform.
Temperature results listed for each heatsink were calculated by
determining the rise over ambient temperatures at time of test.

The heat output from Intel processors
varies, so Frostytech tests with two thermal values that represent the upper
limits of existing CPU families.
With a 150W
heat load applied by the
Intel LGA775 version of FrostyTech's synthetic thermal test platform first, the Thermaltake
ISGC-100 heatsink maintains a satisfactory temperature result of 39.5°C over
ambient at full fan speed. After reducing fan speed from 1600RPM to 600RPM
(45.5 - 30.7dBA), temperatures on the 150W test increase significantly to an unsatisfactory
72.9°C over ambient.
The Thermaltake ISGC-100
heatsink was then tested with
an 85W heat load. At stock fan speed the ISGC-100 heatsink had
no problem maintaining a test temperature of 24.6°C over ambient (45.5 dBA). When the
92mm PWM fan was reduced to 600RPM, temperatures rose to a barely satisfactory 44.2°C over
ambient.
Given the test results we've seen from Thermaltake's
ISCG-100 heatsink I think it's safe to say it should always be operated
at near the full fan speed. Even on the 85W heat load test, the ISGC-100
had a very difficult time maintaining good thermal results with its 92mm fan
running at the very quiet speed of 600RPM. On the 150W heat load test, the
results at reduced fan speed were unsatisfactory.
Although it is difficult to find a sub-70mm tall heatsink these days, the
Thermaltake ISGC-100 isn't quite the heatsink we'd like to see. The mounting
brackets are not user friendly for a cooler this small, and while it is low
profile the thermal results are no more than satisfactory.
