Intel

at 150W
Intel Core 2 Duo / Pentium 4 /

Results based on readings from a 30x30mm copper
interface die with 150W and 85W heat loads applied on the LGA775
version of the Mk.II Test Platform. Temperature results listed for
each heatsink were calculated by determining the rise over ambient

The heat output from
Intel processors varies, so Frostytech tests with two thermal values that
represent the upper limits of existing CPU families.
With a
150W heat load applied by the Intel socket LGA775 version of FrostyTech's synthetic thermal test platform, the Thermolab BADA
heatsink was able to maintain an excellent temperature result of just 16.0°C
over ambient at full fan speed!
That's
quite good considering it's only 136mm tall with a 95mm fan. Noise levels
hovered at a moderately audible 54 dBA.
The
BADA's 95mm fan speed was then reduced from 2800 to 1000RPM, causing the CPU die
temperature to increase to a more average result of 32.5°C over ambient. The
trade off dropped noise to a quiet 35.9 dBA.
Thermolab's BADA heatsink was then tested on an 85W heat
load, and under these test conditions the heatsink had no problem maintaining an
excellent test result of 9.6°C over ambient at stock fan speed, 19.8°C at
1000RPM.
Thermolab - a heatsink maker to watch
Thermolab
may have a small stable of heatsink models under its brand, but Frostytech has
been quite impressed with the results of its efforts lately.
An
interesting footnote; in Korea there's apparently more demand for compact PCs
than there for full tower systems. However, it's still a bit of a challenge
to find good tower-style heatsinks that will fit into slim PC
case. It's thus good that Thermolab's BADA heatsink stands only 136mm tall
and yet still competes head-to-head with some of the best +150mm tall tower
heatsinks out there, on both Intel and AMD test platforms. Thermolab's got a good mid-tower
heatsink in the BADA, it has excellent performance capabilities at full fan
speed if you're willing to accept moderate noise output. Recommended.
