Results based on readings from a 30x30mm copper
interface die with 150W and 85W heat loads applied on the LGA775
version of the Mk.II Test Platform. Temperature results listed for
each heatsink were calculated by determining the rise over ambient

Intel processors
vary in power output between single and multi-core models, so FrostyTech tests
heatsinks with two thermal loads that represent the upper limit of each CPU
family; 150W and 85W.
With a
150W heat load applied by the Intel LGA775
version of FrostyTech's synthetic thermal test platform, the Titan TTC-NK85TZ
Fenrir heatsink maintains an excellent temperature of just 15.5°C over ambient,
with 58.6dBA noise.
The
TTC-NK85TZ Fenrir heatsink was then tested with a reduced fan speed (800RPM),
which resulted in a good 25.5°C rise over ambient temperature and reduction in
noise to 31.4 dBA.
On the
85W heat load test, the Titan TTC-NK85TZ Fenrir heatsink managed an 8.8°C rise
over ambient at stock fan speed, and 15.5°C over ambient at a reduced fan speed.
Not much of change there, so you might as well enjoy the silence if your CPU is
rated for a TDP of 85W or lower.
Given
that the Titan TTC-NK85TZ Fenrir is nearly identical to a lot of the exposed
heatpipe heatsinks on the market now, it's not surprising that this family of
coolers all perform very well on both Intel and AMD synthetic test platforms.
The only significant difference between the TTC-NK85TZ Fenrir heatsink and some
of the others is a faster fan that moves more air (at nearly 59 dBA). The
downside to its excellent performance is a noise level from the supplied 120mm
PWM fan which is too high to live with full time. Find the happy medium at a
slightly lower fan speed and you'll find the Titan TTC-NK85TZ Fenrir a very
economical tower heatsink for Intel 775/1366 Core 2 Duo/Core i7 processors and
AMD Phenom II chips that can turn on the performance at a moment's notice.
