with a 125w heat load applied by the amd k8 version of the frostytech synthetic thermal test platform, the Glacialtech Igloo 7312 Silent E heatsink yields a just satisfactory result of 38.7°C over ambient, with 41.1 dBA noise. To be fair, we have to reiterate that the heatsink is being stressed beyond its stated maximum wattage support of 89W.

However, as Frostytech uses a 125W test for all AMD K8 heatsinks, you'll have to infer how the Igloo 7312 Silent E would handle with a reduced thermal load.

Priced at less than $20 bucks, the Glacialtech Igloo 7312 Silent E heatsink will be satisfactory for 85W or 65W AMD processors, particularly in situations where there is limited vertical clearance. It should even be satisfactory with 125W CPUs, provided the case has very good ventilation. Ultimately the 7312 Silent E is a plain and simple no frills CPU cooler for energy efficient AMD sub-89W processors.
